4th Wall Theatre, Inc.
4th Wall Theatre, Inc. (aka 4th Wall Musical Theatre) is a non-equity theatre company in residence at the Westminster Arts Center on the campus of Bloomfield College, in Bloomfield, New Jersey, approximately 10 miles from Manhattan. 4th Wall is a qualified organization of the New Jersey Cultural Trust. Gwen Ricks-Spencer currently serves as the Executive Director, while Kate Swan is the Artistic Director. The group derived its name from the theatre term the fourth wall coined by Denis Diderot which describes it as “the imaginary wall at the front of the stage in a proscenium, through which the audience sees the action in the world of the play”.

The group's mission states that "4th Wall Theatre sets the highest standards of excellence in producing diverse, seldom-performed and original productions, celebrating a wide spectrum of visions and voices in theatre. 4th Wall is committed to breaking through the wall of imagination, to make cutting edge works accessible and fostering a positive theatre experience for our artists and audience." In addition, the company strives to 1) produce work by celebrated artists as well as emerging artists; 2) enlist and nurture the talents of respected artistic associates; 3) encourage public interest and participation in the musical theatre form both at 4th Wall and elsewhere; and 4) help to develop diverse audiences to appreciate theatre and participate in the creative process.
The 2014-2014 seasons includes: ''She Loves Me (in concert)'', ''Next Fall'', and ''Hands on a Hardbody''.
